Patient Story · Video

From dental anxiety and two years of bad treatment — to eating everything and a smile that feels her own.

After almost two years with a previous dentist that never got her teeth right — and severe anxiety just walking into the office — she came to Dr. Rodney L Andrus. He calmed her down, explained every appointment in detail, and rebuilt her bite.

Coming in to Dr. Andrus, first of all, I had my consultation. From my previous dentist, it was a terrible situation, so I came in here to get something done right. I really felt that this was my place. So I came in. Dr. Andrus made sure I was very comfortable. He first of all had to calm me down because I have a bad anxiety of dentists. I shake a lot, like a vibration, very bad. So he calmed me down. He was very sweet and calming. We went over everything that I had done previously and everything that wasn't done previously that should have been done. So then we talked for a while and went over everything in detail. He explained a lot of things to me. He explained every single appointment and what it was going to be like, and probably the timing also of how long it was going to be — which is very good. I like to get an estimate of how long. I was going through a lot of stuff before — over almost two years with the previous dentist to get my stuff done — and it was just never done right. My teeth — I looked like a horse, to be honest. They were terrible, they were big. Now look at me, and I'm smiling, and it's great. All the foods that I was not able to eat before — which was barely anything if it wasn't soft and mushy or anything drinkable — now I'm able to eat everything and I have no issues. I'm able to eat all my meats, anything hard. Actually, I treat these as like they're mine — they're my natural teeth to me. I can do anything with them, and I love that they're very strong. To me I feel for myself they're perfect, because it's exactly what I wanted, and that was important to me.

"I treat these like they're mine — they're my natural teeth to me. I can do anything with them." — A happy patient

About what made the difference

Two of the most common reasons restorative dental work fails the second time around: dental anxiety that gets in the way of the appointment, and a treatment plan the patient never fully understood. Dr. Andrus addresses both head-on with iatrosedation (drug-free calming), full anxiety/sedation options, and a stepped, written walk-through of every appointment in advance. Comfort & sedation → · Restoration of damaged teeth →
