YOUR DENTURE OPTIONS

The Right Type of Denture for You

Most patients we see are deciding between three paths. The big difference is how the denture stays in place — and that determines how it feels when you eat, speak, and laugh. Dr. Andrus's prosthodontic training means your plan is shaped to your case, not pulled off a shelf.

Option 1 — Traditional

Traditional Removable Dentures

A full upper or lower denture held in place by suction against the gums. It's the option most patients are familiar with — and often the one they're trying to escape because it slips, requires adhesive, and reduces bite force over time as the underlying bone shrinks.

Key FactLowest upfront cost, but the only option that relies on suction and adhesive — and the only one that doesn't preserve jawbone.
  • Most affordable upfront
  • Removed at night for cleaning
  • Held by suction (and often adhesive)

Option 2 — Implant-Retained

Snap-On Dentures

A removable denture that clips securely onto two to four dental implants. You still take it out to clean it, but it locks firmly into place when you wear it — no slipping during meals, no adhesive, much stronger bite force. A popular middle path between traditional and fully fixed.

Key FactRemovable like a traditional denture, but locked in place when worn. Often the best value-to-comfort ratio.
  • No slipping, no adhesive needed
  • Stronger bite force than a suction denture
  • Comes out for easy cleaning

Option 3 — Fixed

Implant-Supported Fixed Dentures (All-on-4 / All-on-X)

A complete, non-removable set of teeth supported by four to six dental implants per arch. It does not come out — Dr. Andrus removes and services it during your hygiene visits. This is the option that feels and functions closest to natural teeth.

Key FactFully fixed in. Doesn't come out at night. Closest function to natural teeth.
  • Stays in 24/7 — never removed by you
  • Highest bite force, eat what you want
  • Same-day temporary prosthesis available

YOUR PATH

Your Path to a New Smile

Every case starts with a thorough consultation and a 3D scan — not a sales pitch. Here's the typical road from your first visit to a finished denture.

1

Consultation

A no-pressure exam, 3D CBCT scan, photos, and an honest conversation about what you want — and what your case actually needs.

2

Treatment Plan

Dr. Andrus walks you through all three denture options for your specific case — with written pricing, sequencing, and timing for each.

3

Implant Placement

If your plan includes implants, surgical placement happens in our office — sedation available. For All-on-4 cases, a same-day temporary is often delivered.

4

Final Denture Delivery

Final denture is designed, tried in, adjusted for bite and aesthetics, and delivered. We keep refining until the fit and look are right.

TRANSPARENT PRICING & FLEXIBLE FINANCING

Dentures Should Not Be Out of Reach

Denture pricing depends heavily on which option you choose and what each case requires — extractions, bone grafting, sinus work, the number of implants, the prosthetic material. For that reason, Dr. Andrus does not quote dentures sight-unseen. Every case is custom-priced in writing after your consultation and CBCT scan, with all three options laid out side-by-side so you can choose the path that fits your goals and your budget.

We work with most dental insurance plans and offer in-office financing to make the path manageable. Many patients qualify for low-monthly-payment plans through Mountain America Credit Union with terms up to 72 months.

MEET DR. ANDRUS

A Specialist's Approach to Replacing Missing Teeth

Prosthodontics is the ADA-recognized specialty focused on replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones — a discipline that requires three additional years of training after dental school. Dr. Andrus is Southern Utah's only Board-Certified Prosthodontist and the founding specialist at the St. George Center for Specialized Dentistry — focused on complex denture and implant work.

The Dr. Andrus Difference

Most general dental offices weren't built for full-arch denture cases that need precision planning, custom prosthetics, and follow-through over months. Dr. Andrus's prosthodontic specialty training, board certification, and in-house implant placement and denture fabrication workflow let patients keep their case with one specialist from consultation through final delivery.

Common Questions About Dentures

Quick answers to the questions Dr. Andrus hears most. Have one that isn’t here? Call (435) 246-7770 — we’re happy to help.

Cost depends on which option you choose — traditional removable, snap-on implant-retained, or a fully fixed implant-supported denture (All-on-4 / All-on-X) — and on whether extractions, bone grafting, or sinus work is needed. After a consultation and 3D CBCT scan, Dr. Andrus provides a written treatment plan with exact pricing. Flexible financing is available — call (435) 246-7770 to discuss your case.
Most patients find snap-on dentures dramatically more comfortable than a traditional removable denture. Because the denture clips onto two to four implants, it does not move during eating or speaking and it does not rely on adhesive. There is no compression of the gums during chewing the way a suction-only denture causes.
For snap-on dentures, plan on roughly 3 to 6 months from implant placement to a finished denture that clips into the implants. For a fully fixed implant-supported denture (All-on-4), a same-day temporary prosthesis is often delivered the day of surgery, with the permanent restoration delivered a few months later once healing is complete.
Sometimes yes. If your existing denture is in good shape and the fit is sound, Dr. Andrus can in many cases retrofit it with attachments that snap onto newly placed implants — converting it from a suction denture to an implant-retained snap-on denture without making a brand-new prosthesis. This option is evaluated case by case.
Most dental plans contribute toward traditional dentures and many now contribute toward the implant restoration component of snap-on and fixed implant dentures. Coverage varies plan by plan. Our team verifies your benefits and presents exact out-of-pocket numbers before any treatment begins.
Bone loss is common after years of wearing a traditional denture, but it rarely rules out implants. Modern techniques — including bone grafting, sinus augmentation, and tilted or zygomatic implant placement — can rebuild or work around what’s missing. Dr. Andrus reviews each case with a 3D CBCT scan before recommending a plan.
Prosthodontics is the ADA-recognized specialty focused on replacing missing teeth and restoring damaged ones. Dr. Andrus is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists — the highest credentials in the field. Denture cases planned by a prosthodontist are designed from the final bite and aesthetics backward, which produces a more comfortable, more stable, more natural-looking result over the long term.
